Confusion as former Sunshine Players chase away Kwara United players in Ondo

The much awaited friendly game between Sunshine Stars FC and Kwara United FC this afternoon didn’t come up after all because it was disrupted by some disengaged players of Sunshine Stars who claimed of being owed backlogs of salaries.

The angry looking former Sunshine Stars players led by Ayodele Henry, Oluwole Tolulope who currently ply his trade with Nasarawa United, Sunday Emmanuel, Abiodun Joseph and four others rolled out a big tyre on the field and chased out Kwara United players including their officials.

All persistent pleas to concerned players towards sheathing their swords by allowing the match to continue were doggedly rebuffed and the stadium was deserted by players and officials of both teams including fans who feared for their lives.

There is no doubt that the psychology and mental alertness of the players and their officials would be negatively affected if this trend is not quickly and diplomatically addressed.

In view of the foregoing, we call on ODSFA Management under the leadership of the Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Ayedatiwa to set machineries in motion towards offsetting the outstanding salaries of these disengaged players.

It is equally important that the welfare of the technical crew and players of the Club needs to be greatly attended to through prompt payments of their salaries and outstanding winning bonuses.
