Dorian Home: I hate being considered for Awards– Lola Bayode
Dr Lola Bayode, the initiator of Dorian Home has urged individuals, groups of persons and organizations not to consider and distract her with Awards or embark on unnecessary praise singing following the multimillion naira children home established in Akure the Ondo state capital, aimed at taking care of the less privilege in the state.
Dr. Bayode stated this while featuring on a popular Radio programme on Positive FM,This Friday with Emmanuel as monitored by our Correspondent on Friday.
She stated that the establishment of the children home has no political undertone as she is not involved in politics.
Dorian Home is scheduled to be inaugurated on the 14th of October, 2021 as dignitaries and top government functionaries from across the country are expected to grace the occasion.
What She said about Dorian Home :
“When I had my son, it was not easy. I was in severe pain and thought I would not make it despite many medical doctors handling me during Child labour.
During that period, the thought came to me that, what if I did not come out of the labour room alive, what would happen to my baby boy.
So I decided to do this for a lot of people who are not capable of taking care of themselves and their babies and God heard my prayers and I started the project.
When I started the project, I was just doing it out of passion because I love giving to people.
The case of my child Labour changed my perspectives and made me to decide that the best thing is to build a Nation. When you are taking care of a child, you are building a Nation.
So if I am taking care of the children, I am very sure that they will be great in life because I would do everything to make them great.
I will also make them closer to God and ensure that they study very well, and won’t allow them to be roaming the streets.
In 2018, I was supposed to commission the project but I lost my only brother who was very dear and close to me. That was when I realised that everything is vanity in life.
I decided that for the rest of my life, I am going to serve humanity and I am not going to acquire wealth and keep doing stupid things. I am going to impact on people’s hearts, live in their hearts for ever.
The project started 2016 and I told myself that by 2018, I will complete it. I was building it until I lost my brother. I left the project for over Six months to mourn my brother before I continued.”
Facilities at Dorian Home
“One good thing about the home is the employment aspect of it. I want to employ a lot of people. There is hunger in the land.
We are going to train our workers on how to behave and relate with the children.
The home will be occupying 600 hundred children at a go.
We will be taking children from Zero to eight years old and they will grow here till they get married.
They will be going to schools. They will live like a normal children.
I am partnering with the ministry of women affairs and other normal agencies, we are going to be working together.
Dorian Home also has a women centre for the less privilege widows.
That centre will take care of about 300 women at once for Vocational centre, training to eradicate poverty in the state.
We will also have Nannies ,Matrons, Caregivers, Cleaners , Security guards and so on to look out for the children.
We are trying to make it a very happy home that is why we are making all facilities available.
I know some people might take advantage of such facilities in a corrupt manner, but I want to assure you that we shall be in control of any situation.
My expectation is to ensure that everything is right and be the best in the society.”
I Don’t want any Award from Anyone.
“I can tell you that I am not doing this to get an award. In fact I hate awards, don’t praise me. I am not doing this for limelight but doing it to serve God and humanity.
I am not a politician and I don’t intend to be one. I only want people around me to be happy.
I want to again state that nobody contributed money to the completion of the project. No single Dime from anyone. It is absolutely my sweat. So no one is bankrolling me, not even government.”
