How Akeredolu stalled efforts to dethrone me – Ondo Monarch

The Jegun of Ileoluji in Ondo state, Oba Julius Adetimehin has called on government agencies, parastatals as well as the private sector to handle petitions and claims tendered before them with utmost fairness and justice to avoid frivolous claims in the fight of acts of corruption.

Oba Adetimehin made the call during a stakeholders meeting recently organised by the National Orientation Agency and Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption held in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The monarch said many petitions are baseless and more of character assassination because of dubious intentions of the petitioners to twist issues against the individuals being petitioned.

Oba Adetimehin recounted how governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state turned down many petitions written against him by some individuals.

He said “ Mr governor knew my background and what I portrayed in leadership.

He had as many as six of such petitions and he called me in confidence and said ‘Kabiesi, ah… this one is scary o.’

But his has chosen to be indifferent because he knew what I represent.

So,the people being petitioned and the petitioners in particular should be called to come and answer questions because in most of the cases, you can hardly find any justifiable bases and people would end up wasting quality times, distorting plans and ideas ,creating unnecessary worries , disturbing the process of effective leadership.”

Oba Adetimehim also expressed worries over voting questionable individuals into positions of authority.

Oba Adetimehin called on Civil Society Organisations and the media to be more proactive in the fight against corruption.
