Ondo Govt breaks silence over suspension of Free Shuttle Buses for Students

The Ondo state government on Monday said breakdown of vehicles being used to convey students was the reason behind its decision to suspend the free shuttle buses enjoyed by secondary school students in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, SSG ,Princess Oladunni Odu disclosed this while addressing newsmen to reel out progrsmmes earmarked for the 100 days in office of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Akeredolu’s predecessor, Olusegun Mimiko initiated the free shuttle buses for students and was sustained in the first term of Akeredolu.

It was however stopped since last year ,a development that had generated reactions among stakeholders, students and parents in the state.

Odu said the buses ,having been used for many years , have been developing faults while many of them had broken down.

Odu said “ We all know that the buses were working very well but sometimes, like every machine, they break down and we are looking into it and trying to fix it.

It is not as if the buses were abandoned. We are looking into it with the aim of fixing it and make them work again.

Odu however highlighted that governor Akeredolu would inaugurate many projects across the state to mark his One Hundred days in office.

She noted that though few of the projects were carried over to Akeredolu’s second term in office, many others were the ones executed in the last 100 days.

The SSG said during the anniversary, many widows will Institute
