Ondo: Iralepo-elect dares Deji of Akure, continues Traditional Rites

The Iralepo-elect, Barristar Olugbenga Ojo Adimula Arulewolasi III has continued to perform traditional rites following his selection by the kingmakers.

He returned from the sacred Ugbo Ooye forest in continuation of his rites of enthronement in line with Isinkan tradition.

Ojo was ushered back into the community by traditional title holders and Isikan people.

This was followed by a procession round the territorial confines of the community from Ugbo Ooye to Omi Elegbudu along Ondo Road.

Dressed in a traditional hunter’s attire, the Iralepo Elect was received with encomiums from the people.

The chant of Iralepo cognomen which was rendered durng the procession in isikan dialect by the people translate to mean the Iralepo has accended the throne.

Market women trooped out enmasse dancing in celebration of the new Iralepo.

The Iralepo Elect stopped at strategic points in the community like Ori Eselu near bypass junction, old Udiroko at Isikan roundabout and Imogun where he offered prayers with water and Palm oil.

The walk climaxed with his entry into the Asamo’s house (one of the high Chiefs) where he will spend over 7 days in seclusion before proceeding for other rites of enthronement.

The Iralepo Elect while speaking with Journalists said his vision for the community is to foster peace and advance development in the entire Akure South Local Government areas.

He extended an olive branch to the High chief purportedly installed by the Deji saying his situation is like a lost sheep which should return to the fold with peace.
