PDP crisis heightens in Ondo as Olafeso set to appeal disqualification

The crisis rocking the Ondo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Thursday evening following the disqualification of a former National Vice Chairman of the party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, from contesting for the position of the National Publicity Secretary.

Dr. Olafeso was in the race against a former member of the House of Representatives, Barrister Debo Ologunagba as the position was micro zoned to Ondo State.

Ologunagba is believed to be backed by Dr. Eyitayo Jegede while Olafeso is supported by other PDP leaders who vowed to stop Jegede from further hijacking structures of the party.

Moreover, PDP leaders from Ondo South senatorial district have vowed that the zone must not be sidelined in the affairs of the party.

A leader of the Ondo PDP, who spoke on anonymity fingered Governors Seyi Makinde and Nyesom Wike as the arrowhead behind the disqualification of Olafeso.

The PDP chieftain said the fears that Dr. Olafeso would defeat their candidate made them to push the screening committee to carry out their bidding.

He said Ondo PDP risked implosion especially from the Southern leaders if Olafeso appeal failed to scale through.

Another PDP chieftain, Pastor Akinrinola Olumide, said Ologunagba lacked the requisite expertise and professional qualification to be party spokesman.
