Your claims on my defection to APC was an insult – Umahi blasts Fani-kayode
Ebonyi governor, Dave Umahi has lambasted former aviation minister, Femi Fani-kayode for claiming he was instrumental to his defection to APC.
Umahi asked Fani Kayode to withdraw the statement which he described as an insult to his person.
The Ebonyi state governor stated this while featuring on Sunrise daily of channels TV on Friday as monitored by ROVING REPORTERS.
The former minister had on Thursday said he was instrumental to the defection of the three PDP governors into the APC.
He listed the governors to include Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state, Ben Ayade of Cross River state and Matawale.
Reacting, governor Umahi said “I think he needs to withdraw that statement. He is my good friend but it was an insult on my person and the other governors.
The man did not know when I moved but incidentally, he visited me and we discussed and he said he was coming to join me with the other governors that declared.
How will somebody in PDP be instrumental to my moving to APC, a whole governor of a state, and an experienced governor for that matter. So he has to withdraw the statement.
He was never part of discussion of my movement. I moved to close the gap between the south east and the central which our fore fathers fought for like nnadi Azikwe, so for somebody to come and say that a whole chairman of southeast governors forum, he was instrumental to my defection to APC, it was an insult on my person and with all due respect, he has to withdraw that statement.
He remains my friend and good one for that matter but he played no role in my movement to APC. I am sure he didn’t play any role in the movement of others”
